Question regarding the iPhone 3G S

I currently own an iPhone 3G but would like to pick up the new iPhone 3G S due to its new features and I am really jelous of the video recording as that is one of the things I wanted most out of the iPhone.

I am on a 24 month plan with Optus and I was wondering if it was at all possible to be able to trade in the iPhone 3G for the iPhone 3G S and just restart my current plan?

I know the pricing for the plan would change but I'm willing to pay an extra couple of bucks or just an additional fee at the begining to swap it over.
