Question Regarding the use of wire-fire and the AirPort Express Base Station

I was contemplating buying the wire-fire.I was wondering if it could be possible to use the wire-fire to receive a wireless network signal and connect to the airport express base station (Via the usb connection) to boost it further, while broadcasting it around my house wirelessly.

I just figured that if i can connect the wirefire to my mac book, why can't I use the AirPort Express Base Station as a kind of repeater.

I'm still a little lost on what Wire Fire actually is.

You can share internet access from your laptop's ethernet port to the base station.
