question: timemachine and clean install

QUESTION about installing Mac Os Lion: if I do a clean install and then choose to "transfer information to this mac from time machine" is it still a clean install? To be more specific: what will be copied? Only user data or do I also get corrupted files, errors, and so on. Thanks in advance.
