Hi all, especially the owners of an M1 model. I have a question for you, Did you try to run programs like Factory io or (more ambicious) TIA portal through crossover or something like that?

I'm now in the market for take a laptop and I have in sight a refurbished 16" with 32GB and 5600 for ~4400€ (4600$ more or less). The fact is that I'm worried to spend that amount of money at a few months of new models with both processors so if someone try to run that Windows software and is runable I aprecciate if shares with us. If that runs I'll wait for the new 16" model with AS but if not, I will continue spending time thinking if it is a good purchase or not (maybe till march-june xD).

Thank you!!

Purchasing a current M1 based MacBook Air/Pro and expecting to run 16" workloads, you are setting yourself up for disappointment. While the 13" Air/Pro seem promising, these are not meant to compete with the 16". It is safe to assume that Apple has something else in mind for the 16", otherwise they would have released one of those models as well. As far as Crossover, check this: https://www.codeweavers.com/crossover#compatibility. Apps running under Rosetta2 and Crossover will work, but they will not be full performance. They may be 'good enough,' and that link should help you determine that. Rule of thumb is buy what you need, when you need it, and don't look back. You can play the waiting game forever, as there is ALWAYS a more powerful/better system on the horizon. If you always wait, you will just never buy.

Good luck!

Yeah, you are right in that game of waiting. At the moment I can wait a little months, maybe to march to see if the 16" appears and what can I expect with it. My major illness is the need of some windows apps so if in the moment to buy I don't see clearly I'll can manage that apps on AS I'll buy a Intel one.

Thank you!!
