Is it possible?
I've recently purchased an iPhone 5C off of eBay from the United States. It had a broken screen, and was locked to the Sprint network. I can fix the screen, and intend to resell it, however, if I can unlock it, it goes up by more than 130$ in price. (which would be awesome)
I'm obviously not the phone's original owner (though it has a clean IMEI) and therefore can't really request a unlock code from sprint, legitimately.
Apparently Sprint and Verizon lock their phones differently than other carriers, modifying its actual hardware to send a radio signal (or something along these lines), and make sure its not been switched to another carrier.
I've looked online, and can find no concise answer. some people are saying there's a way to do it for free, via jailbreak, though I've found nothing online about it. there's a lot of spam and advertisements to online unlocking sites, but 1. the prices are ridiculous (lowest I've found is 80$ US), and 2. all the sites seem suspicious (at best), and a lot of people say that they just don't work. the third option was in the form of an 'interposer' SIM which is supposed to block the verifying signal or something. This is a far cheaper option (~15$ US), but, like the online unlocking sites, many people say it doesn't work.
Has anyone successfully unlocked a Sprint iPhone 5C, 5 or 5S? or know of any methods that might work?
