So I sold my girlfriends 3g and my 3gs for $800. We both have upgrades so hopefully we get both new phones for $400.

But anyways I am only 19 and dont have any credit yet so we have our phones under my moms account but we are the only 2 phones on the account and I pay the bill. I am buying the phones the day they come out. How would I go about doing this because its not my account?

I don't know where you live or anything, but here in Canada we have the ability to add our names as a contact to the account online or by phoning in, and that allows whoever's name to be added to make decisions about the account.

I tried to change something on my phone number back in the day when I was under my moms account, they said they can't speak to me unless my name is added as a contact or whatever, I did it, and bam. Maybe you have to do the same thing.

Have you, or better yet your mom call in to ATT and tell them that she wants you guys to be able to make changes to the account. I don't think they can deny the account holder can they? Try it!

I was in the process of adding me as an authorized user but it says if I go to an apple store I still need the primary account holder with me

Call your local apple store. I went to three apple stores this year, one in Boston and two in PA. I'm an authorized user but I was able to buy iPhones without account holder. Called my local one today and they said current policy for them is that all you need to know is the account holder's last 4 digits of SSN.

He said if policy doesn't change, I can pretty much do anything in Apple, such as add a line.

Looks like I will be calling them tomorrow

i called apple and they said they would just call att to make sure im a authorized user.

Have your mom add you as an authorized user. When I was in college I was on my moms business account and she added me as an authorized user so she wouldn't have to be there if I wanted to change phones or make changes to my line.

I am not the primary account holder, but I am an authorized user since the account was created well before the iPhone. When I went to Apple on launch day to buy two iPhones (with the other user on the account), they gave me trouble. I even had the authorized users last four digits of his social security number and papers printed from AT&T that I was an authorized user.

They wanted the sale so they "let me slide". I am not sure how it is now, but be prepared for everything and anything!

I was an authorized user on my wifes account, called AT&T's customer service and told them that I would be the one going into the store to buy the new phone. not one issue.

I did go to an AT&T store when I bought my 3G because the apple store was in the mall and didnt want to run to get my first place spot.

My brother and I got there at 12:30am the morning of the launch and were the first in and first out when they opened. walked away with our new white 3G iPhones.

Hopefully I have the same experience this time around. :D

19 and no credit card? I live in Denmark and I've had a credit card since I was 12-13...

lol, how much credit did they give you at 12?
Surely its not legal to have 12 Yr old workers in Denmark...how do the banks expect kids to pay off over draughts?

Did you add a line or just upgrade?

No way would I allow my son's girlfriend use my account for a cell phone even though I like her. Just saying.
