Does anyone know, if you attach an external drive to the TC via USB, and have that drive included in the TC backup, does the backup transfer to that drive happen very quickly since it is attached directly to the TC via USB, instead of transferring all the data wirelessly to the Mac doing the TM, then transferring it all back to the TC? In other words, since all the data is located on the TC device itself (source is attached via USB and destination is internal to the TC)

A similar example would be if you unzipped a file located on a network drive. The data must be sent to the Mac where it is uncompressed by the CPU and then sent back to the network volume to be written. In the case of the TC backup though, since the data does not need to be "processed" does it just transfer straight to the TC drive via USB?
