Why can't someone invent a app that mirrors / clones your # number that can be used on wifi for things like Whatsapp etc on the AW.

Thought I'd ask. I don't really care or want it because it would mean a different # and or another charge/data ontop of phone. Why can't someone invent a app that mirrors / clones your # number that can be used on wifi for things like Whatsapp etc.
Folks may not have understood your question in your original post. I am not sure I understand. Are you wondering if there is an app that can spoof your phone number or IMEI on the watch so it can do direct messaging to a phone number?

I do not use Whatsapp... is that a cross-platform messaging app like Trillian, Skype, or Facebook Messanger? If so, then any of those apps should be able to send and receive messages as long as the app is native on the Apple Watch and the AW is on a recognized WiFi network.

Did you know that iMessage will work on the AW if it is on a recognized WiFi network while the phone is off. Is this what you are looking for?
