My wife's late 2008 MacBook is finally on its last legs and she wants to upgrade. We were going to to buy a new MacBook Pro at the Apple Store, but when she asked if she could hook up her 2008 Apple Cinema Display to it, they didn't have an answer for her. I did a search for Mini DisplayPort to Thunderbolt adaptors, but none of them looked right (I need female Mini DisplayPort to male ThunderBolt). Can anyone help with this seemingly straightforward question--it seemed to stump the person helping me at the Apple Store.

Thunderbolt and MiniDisplayport use the same connector. As long as the source of the video signal is equal or newer then the destination(Thunderbolt to Thunderbolt, Thunderbolt to DisplayPort/MiniDisplayPort). No adapter necessary, plug and play.
