a) would this card work in a Jan 2008 Mac Pro:

If not which of these would work:

I dual boot OS X and Vista/Win7 a lot so need a card that will work with both (I can't be bothered with two cards for two OSs)

b) Is the process pretty simple? I'm technically minded but i'm not one for messing with system files too much.

c) The guide on this forum relates specifically to the first gen 2006 MP - Is the process for the 2008 Mp the same?

thanks in advance.

There already is an official thread right here on the first page.

It contains 1 500 replies. My guess is you have a pretty good chance of finding your answers there.

The XFX definitely works- using one right now on my '06 MP. I'd suggest searching for the others on the 4870 thread if you're that bothered about using one of those. The process is exactly the same for your system. And yes, it's simple. If I can manage it, pretty sure most people on here can.... Follow swissman's guide and you won't go far wrong. If like me you find the UBCD won't boot, just use WinFlash to copy the relevant ROM file.
