Questions about first time TV episode Purchase/Download

I'm in the process of a download of a TV episode for the first time. It is not going as expected. I bought the tv episode from iTunes on my MBP? It started downloading and showed 60 minutes to install, after a couple of minutes a message said ready to begin watching and I said ok. Nothing happened, screen stayed on the iTunes page which showed downloading info in menu bar area at top. So now I am confused.

1. Does it always take 60 minutes to load an 1 hour episode?
2. Do you know why it didn't take me to watch when it said it was ready, I.e. did I do something wrong there?
3. And when it completes the download, what do I do to begin watching? I. E. do I go to iMovie app?

you watch it via iTunes.

i download some episodes via iTunes, but I don't pay attention to progress - I start them before I go to bed at night and they are ready in the morning.
