My ultimate goal is to have a 160GB X-25 M SSD in my (soon to be purchased MBP). However, I really can't afford to shell out $620+ for it.

I have a few questions related, in case I stay with a HD until prices go down.

-What exactly can you save on an external hard drive? Can you save applications or programs and transfer them to a new HD/SSD? Are there any externals that allow you to do this?

-Would it be wise to simply get the 80GB X-25 M and use an external? I intend to install vista/7 on bootcamp and install several games, but I'm concerned that I may not have enough space to install everything between OSX/Windows on only 80GB. What would be a good partition size for Windows in this scenario if I want to install 3-4 games and a few programs? Or should I avoid this and just be patient for prices on the 160 GB to lower?

Thanks for the advice, it's much needed!
