My parents and I have just gotten iMacs and we would like to use the iChat program. I understand you need either a .Mac account or a AIM account. I went to the AIM website and they said the AIM is free. I have a few questions about this whole thing. I hope you can help, here are the questions.

1. Do I need to download a program to get an AIM account or just register at the AIM website to be able to use iChat?

2. Once I pass step one here, what to I need to do to get iChat working?

3. Is there anything else I need to know about this whole iChat thing to use it for video conferencing?

Thanks, BTW this is my first Apple computer ever and I love it!!

1- You can sign up for an AIM account without having to download anything.

2- Open iChat and add an account in Preferences

3- You may have to play with your firewall and router settings if video chatting doesn't work straight away.

OK, I'll give that a try. First I'll sign up for the AIM account then if I have a problem I'll get back to you. Thanks!
