Hi, all
My machine is Mac Pro 5,1 mid 2012 (12 cores, 32G RAM, Crucial M4 CT512 SSD2 in internal bay as boot disk) and I want to add other 3 SSDs in the other internal bays to build RAID 0 array. After researching many threads, I think maybe this product is the best choice for me : MaxConnect BackPlane Attachment for Mac Pro [2009/2010/2011/2012] Systems with 4-Port Areca 1213-4i RAID Controller . But I still have some questions about the installation steps after studying the manual. Are these installation steps are right :
1. Use time machine to backup my system disk in original Crucial M4.
2. Power off the machine and install the Areca 4i 1213 Card.
3. Power On and install the driver.
4. Install ArcHttp Proxy Server.
5. Set Raid Mode with ArcHttp Proxy Server.
6. Flash ROM to EFI BOIS and restart the machine.
7. Based on the Areca manual, "Power up the Mac Pro machine, it will take about 30 seconds for controller firmware ready. This periodic will let the boot up screen blank before Areca volume in the bootable device list.", Does that means the Areca volume will be added in the bootable device automatically? Or I must add it manually? Should I add other 3 SSDs with MaxConnect Backplane Attachment in the internal bays in this step?
8. Restart the machine, the boot screen will appear because 4 SSDs are builded as RAID 0 and I should reinstall MAC OS. Then, I can reinstall the system with time machine.
Am I right ?
Thanks all!
