I am about to purchase a family pack of .Mac from a friend and just wanted to ask if I do in fact purchase the .Mac family pack, will I still be auto upgraded to MobileMe on July 11th when the service goes active? Thanks for the help, .Mac is cheap right now, so I figured I would take advantage if I can.

Yes you will be upgraded to mobile me when it comes out.
