Questions About Mountain Lion

I have a 13" Macbook from early 08 that I just got the other day, and I had some questions on other operating systems. I know for a fact that I cannot run the new Mavericks, but what about other OS's like Lion and Mountain Lion? In particular, I would really like to run Mountain Lion, but I'm not sure that my computer could handle it, and I would hate to go buy it then find out that my computer can't actually run it. Any help please?

An early 2008 MacBook is capable of running Mac OS X Lion 10.7. It is not capable of running OS X Mountain Lion or later. You can purchase Lion from the Apple Online Store. I do recommend though, that if you have less than 4 GB of RAM to stick with Snow Leopard 10.6. It is also available through the online store.
