I am currently in the process of buying the new 2.4GHz i5 Macbook pro. Some questions...

-What places do you guys recommend buying at? applestore, amazon, macmall...?? Where's the best prices.
-I am also a student and do all places utilize the student discount?
-If I wait until summer to buy, will they have the free ipod promotions?
-I am buying this for my girlfriend who is a biology student who uses it for schoolwork and basic personal needs. No crazy video editing or gaming. Should she get the 2.4GHz i5 or get a faster processor?

Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

1. Amazon and MacMall

2. MRoogle will give you an answer, if Amazon and MacMall can't.

3. Depends on the programs she has to use and how complex they are. Maybe she needs software to calculate complex combinations of whatever she might have to, and thus a faster CPU might be more welcome.
But if it is only text editing and some other biology related software, that is not as demanding, the model you chose is more than fine. Even the one before the current one could do that. And the one before that, .... .

All you need is a plain macbook at most base model 13" mbp.

you will not see any increase in performace for regular school work.
