I just got a new Samsung 840 EVO ssd for my MacBook Pro and I'm trying to determine the version of the ssd firmware. I have the ssd connected externally as a USB drive but I can't seem to find any info on the firmware version. I tried using Disk Utility and also System Info but still don't see it.

Can anyone tell me if the firmware version can be determined if the SSD is connected as a USB device?

Thanks.

No, you can't do it that way, but I believe there is a stick on the drive with the firmware version installed from the factory on it.
