questions about smcfancontrol

hey guys,

I just downloaded this program because I noticed that when I am playing cs1.6 on crossover, my new macbook hits about 80C.

I made a new preset and its default is 3000rpm rather than 2000. Should i keep it running at 3000 or only when I play cs1.6?

Is it safe to switch it to 3000 before entering cs1.6, then switching it back to default when I quite the game?

No matter what you do you can't hurt and Intel machine with heat because it automatically will clock down if it gets to hot and if it reaches an unsafe level it will just do a hard shut down.

To answer your question, no that is perfectly fine to do. The fans should automatically ramp up and down in speed corresponding with temperature but if you want to manually change it go ahead, with smcFanControl you are just setting a minimum fan speed so if it gets hot or stays hot the fans will ramp up.
