I’m currently enrolled in the iPhone Upgrade Program and plan to upgrade to the iPhone 16 Pro Max. Since I’ll be out of town, I’d like my partner to pick up the device from the Apple Store on my behalf. I have a few questions:
1. Are there generally pickup slots available at the Apple Store when a new iPhone is released? I haven’t done an in-store pickup in a while and don’t recall how easy it is to secure a time slot for release day.
2. Can I designate my partner to pick up the new device for me?
3. Since I’ll have my current phone with me while I’m out of town, will the Apple Store require that I return my current iPhone when my partner picks up the new one?
4. How long will the store hold the new iPhone if it’s not picked up immediately?
In previous years, UPS delivery has been a bit of a hassle, with us waiting all day for a phone that sometimes didn’t arrive until the next day. I understand release day can be very busy, but we’re hoping to avoid that waiting game this time.
I'm guessing an alternative will be to have the phone delivered and as soon as I can track it on the UPS app, I should change it to UPS store pick up. However, if I remember correctly, the UPS app may or may not let me change the preference, depending on how far it was in the shipping process. Please correct me if I'm wrong.
