I installed Parallels Desktop 6, and then XP Pro... I installed Soundforge because none of the non destructive audio editing programs for the Mac can do exactly what Sound Forge can do... Which is sad... But hopefully they will eventually catch up.

Anyway, when running Sound Forge, my system fans are going nuts, and the MBP is running hot. Yet, in Activity Monitor it shows only 1 core almost maxed out, the other 7 cores are not even in use.... And it says % idle 87%" on CPU.

Why would the fan be going nuts and the computer running hot if 87% of the CPU power is idle?? Could it be the GPU is being heavily taxed? I can't see why a little bar going across the wave forms on the screen would tax the GPU but who knows...

I haven't noticed this behavior during normal system use... Only when using Parallels and Sound Forge.
