I am born and live in Sweden, but becasue of the expensive rate plans in my country, I am thinking about buying an iPhone 3G when I visit the US this autumn.

I have two questions:

1. Is it even possible for me to buy an iPhone, when I am not from the US and lack a social security number? I know that I can not sign up for a contract with AT&T, but can I buy the unsubsidized (spelling?) iPhone for $599/$699? Of course I assume that there will be a way to jailbreak the phone afterwards, so I can use it in my country.

2. The warranty. If, let say, the screen stoped working, can I repair the phone in Sweden if it's bought in the US? That was not the case when iPhones were not sold in Sweden, but now I am not sure. Products like the Touch have, as you probably know, a worldwide warranty, but I am not sure about the iPhone.

Thank you!
