Questions on Ecobee3 with Apple Homekit

I've read great reviews on the Ecobee3, and it seems the newest version with Apple HomeKit is the exact same except for it having Apple HomeKit. Should I go ahead and get the Ecobee3 now, or are there other smart thermostats coming out in the future? Since the Nest isn't going to use Apple HomeKit I can cross that one off the list. I read about the Honeywell Lyric, but that doesn't seem nearly as good as the Ecobee3.
