I need a new laptop for college and I was wondering which would be the best. I'll be doing mostly your basic school work and internet surfing with a fair amount of gaming(of course).

2.66GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor
Boot Camp & Windows 7 Home Premium
NVIDIA GeForce 9400M + 9600M GT with 256MB

I was eying this one and i can get this for about $1700 at macmall. My main question for this is if the 9600 is THAT much of an improvement over my X1600 in my 2.0ghz Core Duo iMac. Everything else i pretty much know is better.

One other thing I am curious about is if it is worth it to spend $400 more for this:

2.66GHz Intel Core i7 processor
500GB Serial ATA drive @ 5400 rpm
15.4-inch Glossy widescreen display
NVIDIA GeForce GT 330M with 512MB

Personally I dont think I need all of that and the older model (not even that old) would still last me for a long time. All help is appreciated :)

I'd actually go for option number 3, the Core i5 base model 15" MacBook Pro. It's a fair bit faster than the 2.66GHz Core 2 Duo model and doesn't cost that much more. Either way, both the 9600M GT and the GT 330M are a fairly large improvement over the Mobility Radeon X1600, and you should notice a marked improvement in your games.
