I have a 750 GB WD Passport that has my Time Machine backups from my older MBP. I ordered and will be receiving a 128 GB SSD MBA next week. The Passport has about 60 GB of free space.

Questions:

Can I set up a Time Machine backup on the Air without erasing all the backups from the Pro (Will not be restoring from Time Machine as the drive wouldn't have enough space anyway)? Will the WD Passport ask me to erase the contents of the drive when I insert it for the first time on the new computer, thus erasing all the current backups? I'd prefer to do it the old-fashioned way by plugging in via USB and initiating when I want to back up and not using the Sharing options that are available in System Preferences.

When I currently initiate a backup, if there isn't enough space, Time Machine deletes the oldest backup(s) until there's enough space.

Will it do this automatically considering it will recognize the MBA as a new computer without TM backups currently setup and thus establish a new folder of backups or do I need to manually delete until there's at least 128 GB of free space?

Will the WD Passport allow the establishing of a second folder/profile of backups for a different computer?

Thanks for your help in this matter :)
