I'm trying to find the quietest 7200 RPM IDE Hard drive out there.
What exactly are Fluid Dynamic bearing motors, or liquid bearing motors?
Is the Maxtor diamondmax 9 the quietest?

i'm about to buy a new hard drive as well and from everything i've heard, i'm choosing the diamondmax9. i've heard from other users that the fluid dynamic bearings not only make it quiet, but cool (i'm sticking it in a crt imac - not made for 7200s so i have to be careful). i've heard that although the western digital caviar drives have 8megs of cache, they are really loud. i've nearly put down the money for a diamondmax, but i'd still like to get more info too, just to make sure i'm making the right decision.

I have an 80 GB WD 8Mb cache drive in my PeeCee. It is not at all noisy (it's a lot quieter than the 30Gb IBM in there with it). The Maxtor drives are even quieter though.
