Would it be ethical to pay a hobo/tramp/homeless person say £5 to be front of the line a few days before the event thus guaranteeing you a prime slot?

You would get your phone first, they would get money for drink and you would get a warm glow feeling for helping the misfortunate in society, you could even let them hold the phone (briefly) if they had clean hands.

He couldn't afford to stay in one place for such little money. You could pay him or her more, but the Apple Store would probably ask him or her to leave.

Just hire a temp from a temp agency...

Ha! I'm not made of money and anyway am saving for the ipad. I think £5 would suffice with the added bonus of some McDonalds chicken nuggets and half a bottle of JD upon contract completion.

If i was homeless and was asked to do such, 5 minutes before opening i would say something like:' $100 now or i'll run away, you greedy bastard'.

Why bother the financially challenged with capitalism?

Isn't there a saying that you should never trust a hobo or something? ;)

Opportunity cost my friend. The hobo would be waiting in line for a day or 2 for 5 euros when he could be patrolling the streets for the days, digging into garbage cans and begging for more money. I dont think they would do it.

No offense but why are people making these type of threads? you know that there is no way you are going to find a homeless person and ask him to do that. Your really reaching with this one.

Thats 100% incorrect, I don't know about where you live but in London you see more homeless people than cars on the road.

This thread reminds me of hobo-vertising as seen in "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia"

People will do anything for money, so I would say this idea would work however it'll be hard to find someone willing.

Make sure he's gone before you leave the store, or at least make sure he's not a stabbing hobo.

Oh ok in Longbeach maybe.

How about a well trained dog or squirrel? (not necessarily homeless ones though I have yet to see a house owning squirrel).

Ok, of course you can find one. I'm just saying that the OP is not actually going to do it so why make a thread about it. Please, I live in Long Beach, CA there are PLENTY of homeless people if you venture into the right (or maybe wrong) areas.

lol, sorry didn't mean to jump on your case. I know you made the thread as one to be light-hearted, now if you can train your dog to sit there for a couple days that sure would be a sight too see!:D

My hired preorder person cost me $25.00 and the pickup will cost me another $25-$50.00 and I didnt even have to hire the homeless. And hiring the homeless never ends good

Just sad. You're talking about people here, not animals that you're trying to trick into doing something.

Unless you promise something worth waiting for every day, chances are he/she will leave with your money. Also, £5 is nothing. Homeless people here in NYC make an average of $25,000 per year.
