I recently installed Win 7 on my machine and use it for gaming and since it is staying in Win 7 a lot it gets put to sleep between gaming sessions... DragonAge is a little addictive. My wife usually sets the fans in smcFancontrol to gaming, which brings the min speed to 1000 rpms before rebooting into windows. I asked her to sleep the machine when not actually using it. Last night I got on windows after a sleep and noticed I didn't hear the fans where up to speed. When I rebooted into OSX I noticed the fans where in fact set to gaming and could hear them coming up to speed before setting them back down.
It seems that my 08MP is loosing the fan speed settings if put to sleep in Win 7. Is anyone else experiencing this? Since I have no way of controlling fans in win 7 (other then GPU through ATI catalyst) if my MP is put to sleep in Win 7 I have to reboot to get the fan's speed back up to where I want them. This is a PITA and makes gaming on Windows on my MP yet another problem. The lack of control of cooling while in windows is scary... At least the GPU fan will throttle up down and I can control it, but the case fans do a better job of dispersing heat imo.
Edit: OK nevermind. Found this http://sourceforge.net/projects/macfan and it seems to work. Need to figure a way to make it run at boot as administrator...
