I just bought the new Macbook Pro on Wednesday of this week, model MB470LL according to the box. Got it at the applestore.

So I want to buy Applecare.

Will the MA515LL MBP applecare from Amazon work? Link here.

I want to make sure it will work for the new Macbook Pro. Naturally, the guy at the Apple store told me any applecare not purchased from Apple will not work, but I've been lurking around here long enough to know better.

Thanks for the help guys.

yep. any applecare marked as such will work. I found a couple of applecare boxes for iPod in a clearance bin at a JP Penny's once for like $7. That was at the peak of the iPod craz too. If it says MBP, and that's what you got, then it'll work.

peace.

I never buy Applecare until the eleventh month. There is a one year warranty and Applecare adds nothing until the original warranty ends. There are always bargains available on ebay.

I think I had about 20 days left on my first year warranty before I got AppleCare on eBay. It was worth waiting.

Yes, it will work :) Get it with confidence.

If you're happy with your mac and foresee keeping it for awhile i.e. long term, then I'll recommend getting Apple care.

I got Apple care for both my mac pro and 30" ACD.

That's not true. Out-of-the-box, your Mac gets 90 days of phone support. If you buy AppleCare when you get your computer, you have a full 3 years of phone support. Why bring your Mac all the way to the Apple Store when a 5 minute phone call might be able to clear things up?

You can get Applecare for your Macbook Pro on eBay for $200. All you need is the code to activate it with Apple.

$159 here and all that they did was e-mail my activation code.

There are quite a few vendors that specialize in selling AppleCare for dirt cheap.
