So I'm trying to do a clean install.....thinking of the quickest way to backup. This is what I'm doing (backing up to a external HD as I type)....

I've essentially copied/moved my "home" folder to the external HD. I plan on then doing a clean install of the OS then moving the "home" folder stuff back. I know I'm gonna loose some/all of the third party apps, but otherwise will all of this work correctly?

The reason I'm doing this is that I'm having spinning beachball issues on my MacBook Pro 15".

Thanks to all in advance.....

As the guy says to the Progressive Insurance lady ('Flo') on the commercial, "Well, excuse me!"

I guess that ought to be enough!

Clean install solved all problems....Simply moved libraries to and from an external HD and everything worked great. Thanks for everyones help/opinions....
