So my new imac 5K usb Ports dont spark they never have it only sparks with An hp mfp176n laserjetpro printer cable even when the printer is of and the cable is plugged in it sparks
Seems like the Problem is woth the printer right?
Heres the confusing part it doesnt spark with my 2014rmbp15inch both have aluminium cases So that Shouldnt be the problem

Maschine studio, komplete kontrol,My midi controller, userinterface ,external hdds USB c cables iphones non of them spark but the printer does
So its like these 2 got a problem the imac works fine with the printer
So is it safe If i keep the printer plugged into the imac so that It doesnt touch the case and cause the spark is it a super dangerous thing Or its fine help me Guys since i have No access to any apple stores you guys Are my only source

My problem is the same as This The spark is the same as The one in the video some time a little bit bigger some times a bit less

But on a 2017 imac
Jesus bless❤️✝️

It sounds like some of your equipment isn't plugged into a grounded circuit. If you don't have a grounded circuit, then try to run all the equipment from one power strip that does at least connect the ground between all of it's receptacles.

The metal case on Apple products is wired to the ground wire in the power cord. The AC power input also has an RF filter circuit that includes a connection to ground. When the computer is not grounded, the RF filter imposes a voltage onto the ground pin. This voltage will be the average of the two AC power wires. In the USA, with a 120VAC supply, the imposed voltage is 60VAC. In parts of the world with 240VAC, the imposed voltage is 120VAC! The amount of current possible is low, so apparently Apple feels it is safe. Often, Americans will take their Apple laptop abroad, using it on 240VAC for the first time, and report a tingling feeling when touching the case of the computer.
