Quick iPhone and iTunes question

I have a small problem. My iTunes does not work on my computer and until I can get a hardrive to back up I can not fix it. I owe iTunes ages bucks but can't even get into iTunes store to make good. I would like to be able to update apps and buy music on my iphone still but can't because I owe iTunes money. So my question is if I redeem a iTunes gift card on the iTunes store on my iPhone will it transfer to my iTunes account, also I will be able to update and get new apps, etc.? Thanks for any help
