Quick iPhone + MBP question

I just jumped from a 2007 MB C2D to the current 15" MBP i7, and I can't get iTunes to recognize my iPhone 3GS, i tried restarting both, authorizing/deauthorizing computers but I'm missing something. I used Time Machine to migrate to the new laptop.

By "recognizing it" do you mean that it doesn't show up in the sidebar? First thing I would do is delete the plist and restart iTunes, if it's still not working then try using AppZapper to remove iTunes from your system and then reinstall it fresh from a download. If that doesn't work then there may be a problem with the usb port...try another device in it to make sure the port is working or just move it to the other port to see if that one is working. Otherwise I'm kinda stumped.
