Apologies if this has been asked but I did a quick search and couldn't find it. Although my search term choices usually let me down on stuff like this.
I've still not installed iOS 8 yet on my current iDevices and I missed my 6+ delivery on Friday so still don't have that phone (
) so I haven't yet had to choose "old way or the new way". As I understand it, if I choose to migrate to the new Photos app (and iCloud Drive) now, anything I do with my iOS device will be completely unsyncable (I'm making up words now) with OS X until Yosemite? I can understand the iCloud Drive part of that - although why Apple can't patch Mavericks to allow use of it since Windows can is beyond me - but what about iCloud Photos?
A big part of the reason for Photostream and the new iCloud Photos is making photos easier to access everywhere and easier to share etc.
Would I be right in thinking that, not counting using a third party app like Dropbox, OneDrive, Google+ etc, if you choose to migrate there will be no way to get photos off your iOS device to your Mac until 1) Yosemite is released and 2) the new OS X Photos app appears next year? I'm guessing iPhoto and Aperture will be unable to access the new iCloud Photos.
