Quick Phone activation question regarding a second pc

Hello,

Just a quick question regarding iphone activation. My friend has been sent a new 3gs however he is having issues with his pc but needs the phone activated so he can start to use it as a phone.

My question is can I activate it on my computer for him so he can start to use it and later use it with his own computer?
