Quick Photos.app question

If I export a photo from iCloud photos. It creates a new file on my hard drive with a creation date of today and the current time. When I import this photo into Photos again will it retain the EXIF data that sys when the actual photo was taken? (rather than the file creation date).

Don't use Photo's that much, but you can always just try it with a test picture.
