Quick Photoshop upgrade question.

My aunt just told me that she has an old copy of Photoshop 4 for the Mac and was wondering if I would be interested. I want to take it and upgrade to the recently released CS2 and was wondering if there would be any issues. I'm currently running 10.3.8 and I'm thinking that the program would need OS9 to load and run. Am I wrong with that assumption?
I'm sure I will be able to upgrade no problem but I'm kinda looking for info of people that have updated really old Photoshop programs to recent ones.

With the last release of Adobe CS (1), they had a flat charge to upgrade from any version of Photoshop regardless how old that version was.

First, to avoid any potential activation problems, you have to ensure that the version she has is either unregistered or that the registration is transferred to you. Activation ensures that you'll only be able to install it on a max. of 2 computers. For more on activation, read this:

Thanks for the input. I talked to Adobe and all and actually found out that I can get a full copy for a little under $300 because I'm a taking some courses at the local college and qualify for the student discount. I might just do that and have a full fledged copy just for less headaches with processing and for full version giggles.
