Quick question about burned CDs

Is it possible to tell what the bit rate of a cd that was burned is? (in other words, i have a burned cd and i want to know what the bit rate on it is so I don't rip it at a higher bit rate and waste hard drive space when i rip it.)

in iTunes? right/apple-click on the column headers at the top and check bit-rate (if they're mp3s) if not, like a regular audio cd, i don't think so becasue they all get burned at the same bitrate regardless of the source
