Quick Question for AT&T Users

I just bought a new iPhone yesterday and Im wanting to buy another one for a family member.

Can I buy another phone at the Apple Store and then convert the 2 separate lines into a Family Plan? Is there any charges to this?

I wouldn't go to an apple store especially when they dropped the ball on iDay... just go to an AT&T store they do this everyday.
