Question in title. Please don't tell me I can buy a different tablet device or that I can watch movies while it's plugged in. I'm not looking for solutions or alternatives. I simply want to know how long does the iPad battery last when watching movies. How many non-stop hours of video can be watched on a full charge.

Thanks.

dunno....but I've done 4 hours of movies back to back from NYC to LAX....plenty of batt left

I would guess around 9-10 hours if you have wifi off. Or are you talking about streaming video?

I think mine with brightness at about half-60% lasts about 8% per 42minute netflix hd episode. So pretty great lol. More if I'm watching local stuff in airplane mode.

I've personally stream about 9 hours of Netflix over LTE (I have unlimited
verizon LTE data on ipad) before battery died.

I have the ipad 3 verizon.

That depends on if you have the New iPad (4th gen) or the old iPad 2.
iPad 2 = 10 hours not plugged in

iPad 4
Wifi off/ Cell off
Plugged in and watching video the battery will drain 1% every 6 min.
Not plugged in, 5% every 6 min.

So about 2 hours continuous use not plugged in for the new iPad.

If you are losing 10% of your battery every 12 minutes you need to bring your device in to Apple for repair/swap. That is nuts and is certainly not normal.

As others have said there are variables (brightness, network connectivity, etc) that will affect your battery life. In my experience watching movies stored locally on the device I can get at least 8 hours of viewing per charge on an iPad 4.

For locally stored films 10+ hours easy.

Streaming via plex varies but 8+ hours

Nowhere near normal.
