Quick Question Macbook Pro 13"

So I got my new April 2010 Macbook Pro 13". I have a few questions:
1) What applications are recommended to install. (I'm a noob Mac User)
2) Does anyone else hear a clicking noise when they raise their MBP suddenly?
3) Does the superdrive make a noise right after you turn the computer on, but before the apple logo appears?

1) istatpro, appcleaner
2) clicking noise is normal, i hear it too. if anything goes wrong and you didn't cause it to happen, then your apple care will take care of it.

I got onyx, is coconut battery recommended

Also, how do i check the temp of my mac?

istatpro is an app that u can see fan speed, temps, hd space, etc. get it. and yeah coconut battery is pretty nice. i dont have it myself, but i've heard good things about it.
