Quick question on iTunes preorders

I found a movie on iTunes I'd like to rent and watch tonight. However, it looks like it can only be bought as a pre-order, but there is a rent button below that.

I know I can't buy it, but if I rent it can I watch it now or do I have to wait until it's released for purchase as well?

Wrong forum, but you have to wait until it actually comes out to watch it.

For the record, you can watch it right away if it's a rental and not a preorder purchase.
