I like iOS but I'm looking for an android device to mess around with. Needs to be cheap. I've had the samsung tab 2 and the nexus 7 1st gen.

Anyhow, can I root and flash vanilla android to the tab 2? Same software as is in the nexus?

I would get a 2012 nexus again but the reliability is sub par.

Thanks in advance!

It looks like you can get some version of vanilla android on it. You'll have to read more about it here http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-tab-2

Look for a CyanogenMod ROM for your Galaxy Tab 2. CyanogenMod is a custom ROM that is almost stock Android that supports many phones, tablets, and other Android devices. CyanogenMod offers Android 4.2, 4.3, and 4.4 builds are being worked on at the moment.

Check it out at http://www.cyanogenmod.org/ Make sure you download the right ROM for your specific device (screen size in specific).

Hope this helps.

He might not find anything on their official website but that doesn't mean there's no working version. Xda is where you go for stuff like this.
