Quick question regarding the iPhone 5S

Hello.
I'm a user of an iPhone 4S, and I can upgrade to iPhone 5S next year's July, but there's one thing stopping me.
Not the price or anything(I'm buying it sim free) But, the Touch ID sensor.
Is it mandatory?
I mean, the idea is neat, but if it's mandatory then it's a deal-breaker for me.

I don't think its mandatory to use it. The passcode lock is still an option and I'm sure the option to have no security will be available as well.

Some tech people that went hands on after the apple keynote confirmed it.
But you can wait till its out for further proof.

Thanks, I just talked via Twitter to someone who was there and he confirmed it's not mandatory.
