Quick question: set up airport express through ethernet

Here's my question:

Can an airport express be set up without having an airport card in the mac. I know the apple doc's say you need an AP card, there must be a way, no?

This is to use the express as an external wifi adapter (on a computer -mac- without a wireless -airport- card)

looks like airport admin utility did find it through ethernet after all...
