The only thing you can do is flash it with the iPad baseband using the correct tools from iPhone Dev. Warning that you will lose GPS. Good luck

Oh, thanks for the warning; but he's just want to use the phone to make phone calls and receive them, weather, etc. He just wanted a touchscreen so things would be easier.
So, that's the only con which is not having GPS?

That and you'll never be able to downgrade for warranty purposes. Once you select that baseband your stuck with it. iClarified is a great resource
