ok i'm getting an iphone for christmas and i just wanted to know is it safe to jailbreak and downgrade your iphone and could i mess it up real bad if i do something wrong?

if u downgrade/jailbreak and find it isnt worth it u can always update via iTunes and I am positive that this won't break ur phone. I was going to jailbreak but will wait for v.1.1.3 as this may fix some of the bugs we have

One thing to know, if your iPhone is off (really off, not standby), you can hold the Home button and plug it into your computer and iTunes will do a complete factory restore through Recovery Mode.

Easy way to do a repair to original state in one of those "oh $#@!" moments!
