Im going to be buying the 2.4ghz i5, 15 inch mbp.
I was just wondering how much faster this new model is than the 2.53ghz 15 inch pro.

I saw the 2.4ghz and wondered why the dropped the processing speed.

Does the i5 give it a turbo boost?

Someone please explain, i know this is a nub question.

i5 is up to 30% faster than same clocked Core 2 Duo so it's not a downgrade

Depends on what you do. As I said, it's up to 30% faster in apps that support its features and need speed. It also has dedicated GPU compared to old 2.53GHz which had integrated 9400M. It's worth it

Nah, prices went up here in Finland so it would be 1799€ (2445$) for base 15", it's a rip off IMO. I indeed need a laptop but can live with my iMac and wait for future updates
