Currently I own a 2012 mbpc 2.3 i7 comes with 4gb RAM. I was always under the impression the maximum amount of RAM i could use was 8gb however now i'm reading 16gb would be compatible as well. Probably don't need that much but i'm planning on ordering something tonight and was wondering if anyone knew for sure??

thanks :apple:

It can take a maximum of 16 GB of RAM. You can find specs on all Apple products, including maximum RAM:

I'd suggest you only get what you need though. If you only use 6 GB then it won't make a difference if you get 16 GB over 8...other than costing you more money.

Also been plenty of discussions and complaint of 16 GB of memory causing issues in the MBP that ultimately slow it down somewhat. I haven't experienced this personally though.
