Quick reply in iOS 8 - Question

I have iMessage enabled but when I use the quick reply function from the lock screen or the notifications pull down it sends the message as an sms.

Is this intentional as the phone can't determine whether the recipient is using an iDevice or not unless you use the messages app or just an iOS 8 bug? #

Sounds like a bug you have. It's not happening with me and I use this function a lot. It's so useful! Maybe turn off 'Send as SMS' and see if this does the trick. Or have you turned it off already?

Gets weirder then!! Hadn't thought to check that before but have just checked and guess what?! It's turned off!! Now I'm confused, let's see if 8.1 fixes that #
